Well, it’s probably about time to spout off some details regarding a pair of events coming up. We’ll start with what we’ve already talked about: Milkhouse Summer Jam. The super-duper special pre-sale for tickets ended last Friday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still purchase them. It’s going to be fun. It’s going to take up all of your Saturday, August 6. And it’s going to rock your world.
Also, lest we be reminded that the event will feature the super-duper exclusive brand new, once-in-a-lifetime Frederick Playlist beer, creatively titled, “Frederick Playlist Grapefruit Pale Ale.” We paid focus groups thousands of dollars to come up with that name. So don’t you dare doubt it.
Also of note: Hayrides? Maybe? We’ll see.
Anyway, here’s the schedule for the bands performing that day. Remember that doors are at noon.
- 1 p.m. Lilac Daze
- 2:15 p.m. Cheshi
- 3:30 p.m. The Milestones
- 4:45 p.m. Big Hoax
- 6 p.m. Jack Funk
Got all that? Good.
Now, on to the “pair of events” portion of that first paragraph. Remember last year, around this time, when we announced the first-ever Best Of The Best Festival? Welp, get ready because your Great National Nightmare is back and it’s back with a vengeance. We polled all of the Frederick News-Post readers and asked them who they think the best band in Frederick is. We then approached the top 10 vote-getters and asked them if they’d be willing to drop by for a set on Saturday, August 13, at the 200 East Art Haus.
Because, much like last year, if the bands want to win, they have to actually compete in the finals (AKA, you gotta show up and play, man). And now for the list of this year’s finalists, complete with set times.
- 1 p.m. Marzy Maddox
- 2 p.m. Fuzzy Match
- 3 p.m. Freddie Long
- 4 p.m. Triple Lindy
- 5 p.m. Guys In Thin Ties
Much like last year, all of this fine music will be taking place outside the 200 East Art Haus, and much like last year, there will be a truck ‘o beer to accommodate all who need accommodated. Not like last year, however, is the fact that we actually have a reigning champion: Hard Swimmin’ Fish. And because those dudes are pretty great dudes, they have agreed to drop by and play a we-won-last-year set after the official competition concludes. Expect them to begin rocking and rolling at about 6 p.m.
Best of all? It’s free. And you can’t beat free.
So … the first half of August is spoken for now, right? Right.
